Privacy policy

Family law files contain some of the most sensitive information a person will ever hand to anyone. This policy explains what happens to information sent through this website. It is separate from the professional obligation of confidentiality that attaches to a client file.

What is collected

• Information you submit through the enquiry form: your name, telephone number, email address, the category of matter and whatever you choose to write in the message field.
• Technical information generated automatically by the hosting server, such as IP address, browser type and pages visited, retained in server logs.

You are asked not to send documents, medical information or detailed personal history through the form. That material belongs in a consultation.

How it is used

Solely to respond to your enquiry and to arrange a consultation. It is not sold, rented, or shared with any third party for marketing, and no marketing communications are sent — doing so would in any event contravene Rule 36 of the Bar Council of India Rules.

Retention

Enquiries that do not result in an engagement are retained only so long as needed to deal with the enquiry and are then deleted. Where an engagement follows, the file is retained in accordance with professional obligations regarding client records.

Confidentiality and privilege

Communications made to an advocate in the course of and for the purpose of professional employment are protected by section 132 of the Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, which corresponds to section 126 of the Indian Evidence Act. An enquiry sent through a website form is not, by itself, a privileged communication. Treat the form as a request for an appointment rather than as a confidential disclosure.

Cookies and analytics
